WHAT ARE BUDGET TOURS
Budget Tours utilizes both sightseeing tour coaches and the public transport system while staying in 3-4 Star hotels or self catering motels. The hotel/motels that we use are all within a kilometre or a 5-7 minute walk to and from the bus terminals, in some cities we have included your transfers to and from your accommodation. In most cases your transport will drop you at your accommodation. Your touring cost will be approx nz$140 - nz$190 per day on a share twin.
Please note meals are not included as this gives you the freedom to choose where to dine. All our accommodation is located nearby cafes or restaurants.
We have included of number of attractions where your entrance fee has been included in the cost of the tour and we have also listed a number of optional tours at a lower cost than the normal retail price, this then gives you the choice of including these options in your tour, but these need to be booked at the time of booking your tour.
All our tours are flexible and most can be done in reverse, extra nights can be added in, at any point and we can offer you very competitive rates for both pre and post tour accommodation.
For All Budget Tour bookings, we require a deposit of nz$500 per person before we start our booking process, or if the total tour cost of the booking is less than nz$1000, then full payment is required before we start our booking process. Balance of payment is then due 60 Days before departure date.
If you have your own itinerary and would like us to make it into a budget tour, we would be more than happy to quote your travel package.

Q; Do we travel as a group?
A; No, as these tours depart daily, they are classed as individual or tailor made tours, ideal for those with a sense of adventure or for those who like travel independent of groups.
Q; Are meals included?
A; No, this keeps the cost of the tour down and also gives you the freedom of where to dine at your budget.
Q; Are the hotels/motels close to the bus terminal?
A; All our hotels are located within a 4-5 minute walk from the bus terminal, in fact in some towns and cities the tour coach will pick you up and drop you off at your accommodation, if the hotel is more than 4-5 minute walk from the bus stop we have included a taxi transfer.
Q; What standard are the hotels or motels?
A; All the hotels and motels are Qalmark rated at least three star or three star plus, at an extra cost you can up grade to four star, or four star plus, please let us know when booking.
Q; Where are the hotels located?
A; All our accommodation is centrally located in each town or city.
Q; Do you supply an itinerary of the tour?
A; Yes, a full itinerary is supplied which will have full details of all hotels, coach services, taxi picks, transfers etc, along with a list of all service providers. It will explain how the tour operates and give you your pick up time from each location.
Q; How much luggage can I bring with me?
A; It is suggested that you travel lightly and use a small to medium size suitcase with good wheels, please remember that you may have to walk with your luggage up to 500-700 meters to your accommodation.
Q; What is the standard of transport used?
A; We utilize a combination sightseeing coaches, the local intercity bus service, and shuttle buses, all are of a high standard and most will give a commentary along the way.
Q; How much walking is involved?
A; At the most you will need to walk no more than 700 metre (750 yards maybe a 5-7 minute walk ) to your hotel from the bus stations, any more and we supply a taxi.
Q; Are sightseeing attractions included?
A; On a number of our tours we have included a number of sightseeing attraction which we feel should not be missed.
Q; I’m single can I pay the twin price and share a twin room?
A; Sorry no, all our Budget Tours are daily departures to suit your individual requirements.
Q; Can we change the itinerary to suit our travel requirements?
A; Yes, all tours can be changed and most can be done in reverse to suit your arrangements, extra nights can be added in were required this however must be done at the time of booking your tour.
Q; Can we change our itinerary when we are traveling in New Zealand?
A; No, all bookings are in place and have paid been for.
